Hainan Mobile's 5G networked UAV debuted in Fuxing City to help efficient urban management

HRecently, in the Internet Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park of Haikou Fuxing City, a drone equipped with Hainan Mobile's 5G networked UAV airborne communication terminal - Hubble No. 1 took off from the UAV automatic airport, automatically performed inspection operations, and finally landed accurately at the parking position, waiting for the platform to automatically recover to the airport for safekeeping, and the whole process was without manual intervention.

In this regard, Hainan Mobile staff introduced that the traditional drone operation is like flying a kite, the communication distance is the kite line, and the core of China Mobile's research is to extend this line indefinitely, so that users can control the operation without leaving home.

It is reported that in the past few years, China Mobile has accurately grasped the wind direction of the 5G market, worked hard to explore new applications and new services for 5G networked UAVs, and finally combined with the advantages of local operators, built a 5G networked UAV technology application system based on the integration of "cloud, network and terminal". Through the large bandwidth and low latency of the 5G network, combined with China Mobile's independent research and development of the UAV management and operation platform "Mid-Shift Lingyun", and the Hubble One, which enables the over-the-horizon control of the UAV, it provides the 5G network to replace the traditional data link for the UAV, solving the problem of the traditional UAV flying not far and the strong dependence of the pilot.

At the same time, further combined with the UAV automatic airport high temperature resistance, rainproof, dustproof, antifreeze, anti-theft and other capabilities, the UAV can be directly deployed to the job site, to avoid man-portable UAV operations leading to long commuting time, low efficiency and other issues. At present, Hainan Mobile is planning to use its own 5G networked UAV capabilities to apply to the inspection of communication towers and traffic duty to help the technology empowerment of the free trade port industry.

In the actual demonstration application, Hainan Mobile uses the ability of the UAV to carry out communication tower inspection work, shoots and identifies the antenna, lightning rod and other components connected by the UAV equipped with a high-definition camera, and analyzes the integrity of the zero components through the platform AI algorithm, and finally forms a complete and logical inspection report, which organizes the safety hazards found in the inspection operation into text and picture information, helping the inspectors to more intuitively and quickly determine whether maintenance and replacement are needed. That is, it improves the work efficiency of inspection and also saves the cost of enterprises.

In the next step, Hainan Mobile hopes to use the 5G mobile communication network as a link, through the AI capabilities of the "China Mobile Lingyun Platform" itself, to carry out customized development for application scenarios such as "traffic management", "smart logistics", "public security policing" and "urban management", and work with relevant departments and enterprises to jointly create a new industry application service system of 5G networked drones with "connection + capacity + computing power".
